socialmatic.

This concept camera is super meta and super awesome. If fully funded, Socialmatic would truly combine the digital world of Instagram with the classic, analog world of Polaroid. The camera was designed to print directly to instant film — much like half of the camera filters the app's concept spurred from. In addition to being able to share photos IRL, the touchscreen concept camera would also be able to post pics directly to Facebook. For photo sharing junkies (myself included), this is essentially the best of both worlds!

In order to continue the activity built around the online sharing network of Instagram, each printed photo would feature a QR code. When scanned by the Socialmatic camera, you'd be taken to that user's feed and could comment or continue to follow in the cloud.

All great tech specs aside, the camera also looks like something I'd want to own/carry. Mirroring the app's icon exactly was a bold, but smart move …although I'm interested in seeing how that pans out legally.

The Socialmatic concept was designed by Antonio De Rosa and you can fund or follow the funding progress on Indiegogo.

daft punk frida.

The illustrator, Fab Ciraolo, has a series of historical icons decked out as hipsters and I can't stop scrolling/laughing.

now performing: google maps.

The concept of turning live google map coverage into performance pieces makes you think, doesn't it?! I find this video strangely awesome and like where it heads right around 6:00.

Chicago designer, Jennie Li, started posting hand-drawn typographic tweets by other users. I like it and I'm hoping she continues to post to shit people tweet.

neon museum.

I stumbled upon my first Neon Graveyard picture on Flickr back in 2007. Since then I've always wanted to visit, but never really found a good enough reason to make Vegas a vacation destination. This year has been full of surprises, hard work, and big decisions. In need of some time to relax and reflect, I fled to the only place I could drag my boyfriend to on a whim — Welcome to Las Vegas.

The Neon Museum's outdoor exhibit allowed me to take in the sunshine and typography all at once. I learned a lot about the history of the city, signage, and neons. Venturing off the strip felt great and I'd recommend visiting this growing collection to anyone who finds themselves in the Land of Elvis.

You can view more of my pictures from the exhibit here.

versatile detroit.

Check out this intensely layered font system called Detroit. Based on which layers are activated, you can achieve several different effects — great for signage.

Thanks for the tip, Joel.

the life of julia.

Take a look at how Obama's policies help one woman over her lifetime — and how Mitt Romney could change her story over at The Life of Julia. The illustration style pairs great with the campaign and I really like the user can easily flip through the ages and see how these issues affect women over time.

nerd life.

I'm two seconds away from indulging in an awesome office supply shopping spree. 1) Browser and iPhone sketch pads for easy mock-up and sketching purposes. 2) The best docking station I've ever seen and 3) this classy iPad sleeve — I can't help myself. #nerdlife

Frans Hofeester filmed his daughter every week until she was 12 and created a time lapse out of it, beautiful.
